JOHOR BARU: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Foon Yew High School principal, Tee Bee Tin and GPEX Holding Sdn Bhd (MY063) managing director, Bryan Teow as a collaboration in supporting the development of English Language Teaching among teachers through Certificate in English Language Teaching – Secondary (CELT-S).
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Foon Yew High School Board of Directors chairman, Tong Sing Chuan, Cambridge Assessment English country head Malaysia & Indonesia, Hamidi Halim and Cambridge University Press ASEAN regional manager, Kanjna Paranthaman.
Foon Yew High School has adopted Cambridge University Press Think! Series for J1 level (13 years old) in year 2018, Tee Bee Tin announced that J2 level (14 years old) will start using the Think! Series in year 2019.
“CELT-S course can help the school’s English language teachers in building their confidence to successfully implement English Language curriculum in the school. 12 English Language teachers have currently been selected to participate in the CELT-S course to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge” Tee said.
Also present at the ceremony were the Board of Directors members and the 12 selected participants of CELT-S.
Background of Foon Yew High School
Foon Yew High School, set up in 1913, is the largest Chinese independent school in the country in terms of both students and campus size. The main school is located in Stulang Laut and has an existing branch in Kulai with more than 10,000 students in total.
The school’s new third campus is expected to begin in January next year. The school is slated to open in 2021, and upon completion of phase three, the campus is expected to accommodate 4,500 students.
